Men and women of middle age are at risk of arthritis with intense physical exertion, the Air Force reports..

American scientists conducted a study in which 200 people with a normal weight between the ages of 45 and 55 took part. It turned out that intense physical activity increases the risk of arthritis in the knee joint area. Specialists have found that to maintain the shape of a fairly regular, but not intense physical activity that does not have a negative effect on the health of middle-aged people.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis, which is a chronic progressive degenerative joint disease characterized by degradation of the articular cartilage with subsequent changes in the subchondral bone and development of marginal osteophytes, leading to loss of cartilage and concomitant damage to other joint components (synovial membrane, ligaments).

Women often suffer from arthritis, but the disease remains a serious problem and for men too. Experts hope that the results of the study will help reduce the risk factors for the onset of the disease if people adhere to moderate physical exertion in middle age.
