Neuroscientists from the University of Pennsylvania have developed an effective method of improving memory, according to health info with reference to "RIA Novosti".
The method is based on brain electrostimulation.
The research was carried out within the framework of the project, whose goal is to create an implantable device in the brain. To participate in the experiment involved a group of people with epilepsy (it can worsen cognitive skills), which needed to perform a series of tests to assess the ability to memorize.
In the course of the study, scientists stimulated brain regions associated with memory formation.
Neuroscientists compared the effect of the effect on the brain with its high and low activity. As it turned out, in the first case, stimulation worsened the test results, but in the second case the memory became better.
The results, researchers believe, will help create a closed loop method in which the implanted device will send electrical impulses only when they are useful.
