Doctor of Military Sciences, captain of the first rank Konstantin Sivkov named the main problems of the Russian Navy, which were manifested during the Syrian operation. The article of the expert was published by the "Military Industrial Courier".

Sivkov noted the understaffed air group of the heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser Kuznetsov, the reason for which, according to the expert, was "the lack of trained pilots".

"Obviously, it was the inadequate training of the flight and command staff that led to two notable incidents when landing on the ship's deck, leading to the loss of two fighters, which is very much for the air group of 14 vehicles," believes Sivkov.

The expert noted the insufficient number of "fully combat-capable ships of the far sea and ocean zones", which the Russian fleet has.

The Shipborne Shock Group operating in this area (IBM) included at best two or three units of main classes - a cruiser, a large antisubmarine and a patrol ship.

This showed the whole world - the level of readiness of the Russian Navy for large-scale sea operations is small, "notes Sivkov.

The Doctor of Military Sciences notes that the Caliber launches during the Syrian operation "were episodic, they were used volleys with large intervals, measured in weeks and months," which indicates that there are no sufficient reserves of these missiles in Russia.

"Our fleet has demonstrated: it is able to solve the tasks assigned to it in full, but so far only in very limited local wars and armed conflicts," concludes the expert..
