Microsoft will make a number of changes regarding the policies for accessing applications to computer systems and user data in the October 17 update of the Windows 10 operating system - Fall Creators Update. It is reported by The Verge.

Now, not only card applications will request access to the user's location: after installation, all programs will be asked to access (if they need) access to the camera and device microphone, contacts, calendar and other data. Similarly, application rights are regulated in the latest versions of the Android operating system.

Recall that in April this year, under the pressure of critics, Microsoft decided to disclose a complete list of types of data collected by its OSes. "For the first time, we publish a complete list of diagnostic data collected at a basic level," said top manager Terry Myerson, who topped Windows. "We also provide a detailed summary of the accumulated information about users at both the main and the full diagnostic levels".

A tool that allows you to see what data Microsoft collects has included the "dozens" in the last major update - Creators Update. With it, users were able to switch between the basic and full modes of collecting diagnostic data, while the amount of information collected at the base level was reduced by half. Users of the updated Windows 10 can see what data the geolocation service collects, which voice commands are recorded by the Cortana assistant and the Store store, look at advertising trackers and diagnostic information.
