The famous German hockey player Tobias Eder died at the age of 26, the German Hockey Federation (Deb) reports. A malignant tumor was diagnosed to the player of the German national team and the striker of the Iceberen Berlin club in August 2024. He was forced to suspend his career. On January 29, the athlete's condition worsened sharply and he died in the hospital.

His career began in youth teams, where he achieved significant success, including victory at the German Championship among schoolchildren. In the future, he played for various clubs in DEL (Deutsche Eishockey Liga - the highest league of professional hockey in Germany), including Red Bull Munich and Dusseldorf, where he gradually became one of the team leaders. In 2023, Eder signed a contract with Iceberen Berlin and immediately won the German Championship with them.

In the international arena, Eder played for the youth teams of Germany, took part in the world championships among youth and juniors, and also debuted in the main team in 2021.

In 2024, he first played at the World Cup and scored a goal.

Tobias Eder became the champion of Germany in 2024 with Iceberen Berlin and the silver medalist of the German championship in 2019 with EHC Red Bull Munchen. In 2015, Eder was recognized as a player of the year in the German Youth League (DNL), and also became the best scorer in the regular championship and playoffs Schuler-Bundesliga. In the same year, he was the best scorer and the best striker of the southern group in DNL.
