Serie A has confirmed changes to the Italian Super Cup in 2026. The trophy will be played again in the format of one match between the champion of the region and the winner of the Cup.

The fight will take place on the 22nd at the San Siro Stadium in Milan.

Inter will play for the Super Cup, having become the champion of Italy, and Lazio will win the National Cup.

Thus, the tournament will return to Italy in 2021. For the last four years, the final match was held in Saudi Arabia.

In 2023–2025, the Super Cup was played by four teams. The tournament featured the champion and vice-champion of Serie A, as well as a Cup winner and a finalist of the national cup tournament.

According to la Gazzetta dello Sport, from 2026 the organizers have turned to the traditional format with two participants.
