Aston Villa are close to signing Freiburg central manager Johann Manzambi.

As reported by The Athletic, already at four, 16 minutes, the 20-year-old Swiss may undergo medical treatment before completing the transfer.

According to Dzherel, the English club agreed with Freiburg for a deal worth 50 million pounds - the same amount Aston Villa paid for Amada Onana in 2024. With this rank, Manzambi will become the most expensive outfit in the history of Birmingham, and for the German club its sales will also become a record.

Previously, Newcastle was one of the main contenders for the midfielder, but Aston Villa intensified negotiations after Onana was put on probation due to a knee ligament injury, and Youri Tielemans moved to Manchester United.

Last season, the Swiss played 27 matches for the Bundeslisa, recording five goals and five assists. At the 2026 World Championships, Manzambi also showed himself clearly among the Swiss national team, scoring three goals and two assists for four teams.
