President of the Iranian Football Federation Mehdi Taj confirmed that the national team does not plan to boycott the World Cup in 2026, regardless of political tensions from the United States, reports Al Jazeera.
Behind this, the Iranian side is considering the possibility of rescheduling matches of its national team from the United States to Mexico and is also conducting ongoing negotiations.
The team is currently preparing for the tournament during the training camp in Turechchyn, and two friendly matches are also planned.
At the same time, the Taj said that the country’s position is deprived of the principle of goodness of the United States, but it does not care about the fate of the world’s feathers.
Previously, the Minister of Sports of Iran, Ahmad Donyamali, stated that the national team does not plan to participate in the World Cup. In addition, FIFA called on FIFA to spare the USA the right to host the tournament. The World Championship 2026 may be hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.
