The Senegalese Football Federation reacted sharply to the decision of the CAF Appeal Committee, which awarded a technical victory to the 2025 African Cup final against Morocco.. The organization has officially returned to the CAF due to the likely slowdown of this decision.

In its position, the Senegalese side insists that the verdict of the appellate body is legally unjustified, disproportionate and such that it supports the principles of sports justice. The Federation also wants to freeze the procedure for transferring the trophy to Morocco until the final decision is reached..

In addition, the Senegalese Football Federation announced its intention to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne as soon as possible, in order to discredit the CAF decision and protect its interests.

The latest text of the Football Federation's statement to Senegal:.

" This promotion was initiated after the presentation of money at the hour of match No. 52 of the African Cup of Nations in Morocco 2025 between the national teams of Senegal and Morocco.

With this decision, the CAF Appeal Committee found the appeal of the Moroccan Football Federation pleasant and satisfied with it. Thus, the decision of the CAF Disciplinary Committee was affected by the fact that the right of the party that filed the appeal, but the hearing was not properly ensured at the time of the first review.

The Appeal Committee also decided that the behavior of the Senegal team falls under Articles 82 and 84 of the tournament regulations. In connection with this, CAF learned that the Senegalese Football Federation violated Statute 82, and awarded the team a technical penalty with a 0:3 ratio on the score of the Moroccan Football Federation, corresponding to Statute 84.

The Football Federation condemns the decision to Senegal as unfair, unprecedented and unpleasant, such that it discredits African football. In order to protect its rights and interests of Senegalese football, the Federation will soon initiate an appeal procedure at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.

The Federation reaffirms its continued commitment to the principles of fair play and sports justice and will inform the community about its further development."
