Norwegian Bude-Glimt created a sensation in the 2025/26 Champions League season and established a unique achievement.

In the 1/16 finals, Chetil Knutsen's team knocked out Inter, winning over two matches with a score of 5:2 (3:1, 2:1). The Milanese club was the finalist of the previous tournament.

According to OptaJoe, due to this success, Bud-Glimt became the first club not from the “Big Five” championships, which managed to achieve victories in the Champions League over representatives of the strongest leagues.

A possible series of Norwegians began even at the league stage. Up to two victories over Inter, the Scandinavians also beat Manchester City (3:1) and Atletico Madrid (2:1).

A similar series was restored in the most prestigious European tournament, demonstrating Ajax in the 1971/72 season, when it was called the European Cup. The Amsterdammers also became triumphants of the tournament.
