Morocco national team captain Ashraf Hakim was named the greatest African footballer at the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony held in Rabat.

This individual campaign was the culmination of an exciting season, in which the world football of Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen was ahead of the world. Hakimi became only the fifth Moroccan gravel, thus taking away this prestigious trophy.

His success is the result of a stable and brilliant team: in the 2024/2025 season, playing for Paris Saint-Germain, winning the Champions League, the Ligue 1 title and the French Cup.

The ceremony evoked an emotional response from Hakimi's close friend and great partner at PSG, Kylian Mbappe. Immediately after the announcement of the results, the forward published a message on Instagram about how it went viral:.

" King of Africa.

Well done, my brother, he deserves more honor from the city,” wrote Mbappe, adding the emoji of the Moroccan ensign to his social media.

Having turned away from the city, Hakimi declared that he would dedicate it to the entire continent:.

“It is a great honor for me to be here today, and I write that I won such a prestigious trophy. This city is not less for me, for all strong people, the women who die in Africa, and the quiet ones who die as football players,” said the Moroccan.
