The Portuguese Football Federation is making urgent moves, trying to start Cristiano Ronaldo at the World Cup.

As Goal reports, the FPF is preparing an appeal to FIFA regarding the possible short-term three-match disqualification of the 40-year captain.

Ronaldo took a straight red card in a lost match against Ireland in Dublin (0:2).

After a VAR review, the referee recorded that the Portuguese kicked the Irish defender Daru O'Shea. This red card became the first for Ronaldo in 226 matches for the national team.

An immediate three-match disqualification jeopardizes the fate of the legendary forward in the opening games of the 2026 Emergency, which could mean a new career..

In its appeal, the Portuguese federation plans to argue that the government's decision was provoked by the hostile atmosphere at the stadium in Dublin, where the patients were constantly booing Ronaldo.

They suspect that FIFA will take this to honor and ameliorate the punishment.
