The American Football League MLS announced the transition to the “autumn-spring” system, which will be announced for the 2027/28 season.
The transition season will run from late 2027 and include a regular championship with 14 matches, playoffs and the League Cup.
The league has decided to introduce a new format of the regular championship for the 2027/28 season and consider possible changes in the playoffs.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber highlighted the significance of the changes:.
" Our alignment with the ongoing European leagues will strengthen the global competitiveness of clubs and open up new opportunities in the transfer market. “This is the beginning of a new era for our league and for football in Greater America,” Garber said..
