Former head of the Confederation of Brazilian football Jose Maria Marin was sentenced to four years in prison because of corruption, reports BBC.

Marin, 86, was one of seven FIFA officials who were arrested in Zurich in May 2015.

He was found guilty of taking bribes from sports marketing companies in exchange for contracts to broadcast tournaments such as Copa America.

Marin, a former governor of Sao Paulo, was convicted last year of six of the seven money laundering and fraud cases.

He was convicted along with Juan Angel Enpout, who led the CONMEBOL. The time of his imprisonment will be known later.

Peruvian Manuel Burg was acquitted in the case of bribery in the US.
