Captain Aston Villa John Terry will again become a free agent.
Central defender Aston Villa John Terry will leave the club after the expiration of his current contract in late June, informed the official website of the "lions".
"We want to express our most sincere gratitude for the efforts and professionalism that he showed us last season," reads the statement of the club.
"John is a true leader and he did even more than we had hoped. He was a very popular and influential figure in the locker room, a real captain who created an incredible connection between players and fans. We hope that he will remember with warmth and love his time at Villa, and we wish him all the best in his future career ".
37-year-old Terry moved to Aston Villa last summer as a free agent after leaving Chelsea, and signed a one-year contract, immediately receiving a captain's armband.
In the season that ended, JT had 36 matches in which he scored one goal and gave one assists. With his help, "villans" took the fourth place in the Championships and reached the final of the playoffs for a ticket to the Premier League, where they lost to Fulham.
Following the results of the last campaign, Terry also got into the symbolic team of the season in the Championship.
