In an interview with the Great Football program, Shakhtar President Rinat Akhmetov summed up the season for miners.

The intrigue was until the last round - almost to the last round. And this is very good. I love that we always recognize the champion in the last round and that the champion must be Shakhtar. There were difficulties, there were obstacles. But most importantly - the gold is in our hands, the Cup is in our hands. And with this I congratulate everyone. After the winter, Shakhtar played just great. I want to say that given the way Shakhtar played after the winter, I think that maybe it's even one of the best miners in its history. We played badly only one game - with Dynamo Kiev. I mean, in the championship match. It was not the Miner I used to see. As for the Cup final, as you say, the class of our team is visible. We already have 12 cups, Dynamo has 11. I like it. Dynamo championships are slightly larger than ours, but when we compete started.

We have a UEFA Cup - Dynamo does not have such a Cup. Napoli, Manchester City, Feyenoord, death group, Shakhtar already need to go to the cemetery. And Shakhtar left the group, represented our club, our fans, our country in the Champions League with dignity, and eventually got to 1/8 and spent two great matches with Roma. And everyone says: What a pity, how unfair it is. Why Shakhtar did not go any farther? I think that in the Champions League we played even better than in the Ukrainian Championship.
