In Geneva, the 13th Extraordinary Congress of the European Football Union.

The main event of the 13th Extraordinary Congress of UEFA was the speech of the President of the European Union Alexander Cheferin on the possible reforms of the transfer market.

"A few days ago I listened to prominent European politicians, such as Angela Merkel, who condemn the latest events in the football business," cites Cheferina l'Equipe. - The German Chancellor criticized the huge sums spent on the summer transfer market and called it unacceptable. We largely agree with Ms. Merkel and are ready for decisive reforms, but we are constrained by the legislation of the European Union and certain countries that do not give us the opportunity to implement our plans: the imposition of salary cap limits (like the example of the NBA and other professional leagues), the restriction of commissions for agents, the introduction of a transfer tax on the development of children's and youth and women's football, limiting the amount of lending to football clubs, the prohibition of joint ownership of players and much more.

UEFA is not afraid to make bold and revolutionary decisions so that "small" teams can continue to participate in competitions that turn into a battleground for European "giants", but we need laws that we can act without violating the financial Fair Play and other rules ".

Also at the congress, two representatives of the European Club Association Andrea Agnelli (Juventus) and Ivan Gatsidis (Arsenal) were included in the UEFA executive committee and personnel reshuffles were made in some committees of the European Football Union.
