WBC world heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel commented on the decision of Alexander Usik to refuse the fight with him and vacate his titles.

The German boxer noted that for his part he did everything possible to organize the fight, but was sympathetic to the Ukrainian’s choice.

" It is what it is. I did everything I could. I went to Egypt, got in the ring and challenged him. I did everything in my power. After that I returned to Germany and recorded three videos to promote the fight. But I can't change anything. I have to respect this decision.

We talked with Sergei Lapin, we talked with Usik’s team. In the ring in Egypt he said: " But Usik is 39 years old, he has a great legacy.

He understands that when he fights me, it will be a very difficult fight, not easy money.. Therefore, Usik thought that he was 39 years old and had defeated all the famous fighters of this era. So Usik said that he was done.

I don’t think he avoided me because we hear that in the last fight he will fight either Jon Jones or Deontay Wilder,” Kabayel was quoted as saying by The Ring.

As you know, after Usik renounced his titles, the WBC appointed Agit Kabayel, who previously held the interim belt of this organization, as a full-fledged champion.

Let us remind you that earlier the IBF identified contenders for Usik’s vacant belt.
