The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) is seriously considering the possibility of extending the contract with national team head coach Sergei Rebrov, despite the team’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. The agreement with the specialist is valid until the summer, but may be re-signed in mid-April.
The Vzbirna project informs about this on its YouTube channel.. According to him, a meeting of the UAF executive committee will be held on April 12-14, at which the results of Rebrov’s work for three years in the national team will be summed up. During this time, the team made it through the playoffs to Euro 2024, where it took last place in the group, and failed to qualify for the 2026 world championship.
According to the source, UAF President Andrei Shevchenko and members of the association’s executive committee are firmly convinced that Rebrov should continue his career in the Ukrainian national team, despite the barrage of criticism.
Let us remind you that the current coach of the national team will lead it in the summer of 2023. During this time, the “blue-yellows” played 34 matches, in which they won 16 victories and suffered 10 defeats.
Earlier, well-known journalist Viktor Vatsko shared information that Rebrov intends to keep his job in the Ukrainian national team and is ready to reduce his salary after the team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
