Ukrainian biathlete Elena Pidhrushna (Bilosyuk) decided to officially end her professional career.
The Olympic champion made a statement on the air of the “United News” telethon.
" I thought it was a pause, but now I still choose a family and a child. This is already the end of my career. Taking this opportunity, I invite everyone to the spring championship of Ukraine in Bukovel, where Vita Semerenko and I will hold a farewell ceremony and say goodbye to our sports career in the hope of moving on to teaching, coaching or any other activity,” said the 39-year-old biathlete.
It is worth noting that Elena has not competed internationally since the spring of 2023. Another Olympic champion Vita Semerenko did not compete at the World Cup after the 2021/2022 season.
Pidhrushna is one of the best Ukrainian biathletes in history. In 2014, as part of the Ukrainian relay team, Elena won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Sochi. She became a world champion, won five gold medals at the European Championships, as well as many silver and bronze awards at the world and continental level..
