The frontman of the group “Tini Sontsia” Sergei Vasilyuk said that Alexander Usik’s refusal of the song “Hali Cossacks” is connected not only with formal issues, but above all with his beliefs and attitude towards the band. The musician said that after the start of the war and the annexation of Crimea, the boxer’s position and his words became unacceptable to the group.
Vasilyuk recalled his only personal conversation with Usyk in 2014, noting that, despite the image of a Cossack, the athlete initially gave the impression of a person from a different ideological circle. He drew a historical parallel, recalling that among the Cossacks of the 17th century there were supporters of Moscow, and therefore attributes do not always indicate views.
The musician clarified that the song was used without a legal agreement: the author of the composition, Kirill Momot, expected a royalty, but the boxer did not provide financial support to either him or the band.
" That is, he took our song without our permission. And probably it would still be more correct if this were somehow legally fixed,” Vasilyuk is disappointed.
The singer added that the situation worsened after Usik’s interview at the end of 2015.
“In any case, Usik did not contribute financially to us or the author in any way.”. Moreover, in one of the interviews at the end of 2015, he allowed himself very unfriendly, if not boorish, statements addressed to us,” Blik quotes Vasilyuk. ua.
According to the artist, the composition really became more popular thanks to Usik’s releases, but the decisive factor in the refusal was ideology.
“At the same time, after some time, the conversation began not to be about royalties, but about Usik’s then political views, which no longer suited us image-wise,” Vasilyuk said. "
Let us recall that in April 2016, during the training of the Ukrainian boxing team at the Olympic base in Koncha-Zaspa, Usik gave an interview to Ukrainian journalists, where he stated the following: “I am usually an entry into Crimea. People in Crimea are rooting for me. I have a lot of fans in Russia. All over Russia. In principle, I do not separate our peoples, because we are Slavs. Let's talk like this. There is no reset code for trips to Crimea.
" And if they are not there, then everything will be fine"
In September of the same year, Usyk had to change the topic and he entered the championship fight against Krzysztof Glowacki to the song “Your Own Country” by Kuzma Scriabin..
Alexander Usik went to the fight with Tyson Fury to the song “Brothers” performed by Vasily Zhadan.
During his last fight against Daniel Dubois, Usyk was also greeted in the ring by the composition “Ave Maria”.
