On Sunday, December 1, at the first stage of the 2024/25 Biathlon World Cup season in Kontiolahti, Finland, the women's relay took place. The Ukrainian national team was represented in the race by Elena Gorodnaya, Kristina Dmitrenko, Alexandra Merkushina and Yulia Jima. The Blue-Yellows finished in 11th position. At the first stage, Gorodnaya practiced prone shooting cleanly, thanks to which she rose to sixth position. Elena couldn’t cope with standing shooting and suffered two penalty loops at once, which dropped the Ukrainian team to 18th place. At the second stage, Dmitrenko made one inaccurate shot in prone and lifted the “blue-yellows” to 15th place. Kristina didn’t miss a beat on the stand-up and took 14th position.. At the third stage, Merkushina used one additional cartridge in prone shooting and two in standing, and passed the baton on 15th line. At the final fourth stage, Jima missed once each in the prone and standing shooting and ultimately “brought” the Ukrainian team to the final 11th place. Sweden won the women's relay.
