Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk reached the semi-finals of the doubles of the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid. In the 1/4 finals, the Ukrainian, together with Elena-Gabriela Ruse from Romania, defeated the tandem Monica Niculescu / Makoto Ninomiya (Romania / Japan). Kostyuk and her partner lost the first set 2:6, but took the second set with the same score. The fate of a ticket to the 1/2 finals was determined in a tie-break, where Marta and Elena-Gabriela won with a score of 10:5.
For reaching the final, Kostyuk and Ruse will compete with the leaders of the seeding - Americans Corey Gauff and Jessica Pegula. Note that Martha for the first time in her career was able to get into the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 tournament in doubles..
