Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos announces his retirement from Spain.
The 36-year-old player made a statement on his Instagram page:.
" This morning I got a call from the current head coach (Luis de la Fuente Castillo - approx.. ), who told me that he does not and will not count on me, no matter what level I can show.
Much to my regret, this is the end of a journey that I hoped would be longer and end with a better aftertaste..
I accept it with sadness that I share with you, but I remain with my head held high. Thank you so much for all these years and your support. I will take with me all the memories and titles that we won and celebrated together"
Sergio Ramos holds the record for Spain's most capped team.
The defender has played 180 matches for the national team since 2005 and scored 23 goals.. Ramos won with the national team Euro 2008, World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
