Since the beginning of the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine, the athletes of the aggressor country have been removed from world sports, but they continue to defend their rights in vain in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Currently, CAS has registered 10 appeals from Russian federations and athletes against the decision of international federations to eliminate athletes from participating in international competitions, according to the official website of the organization.
Three of them concern football, the appeal of the Russian Olympic Committee on the exclusion of athletes from the winter European Youth Olympic Festival.
A joint appeal of the Russian Skating Union and the Russian Figure Skating Federation was registered, signed by Semyon Elistratov, Angelina Golikova, Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov.
Separately registered appeals of representatives of artistic gymnastics, trampolining, acrobatic track and double mini-tramp to the international and European gymnastics federations. Among the authors are Nikita Nagorny, Angelina Melnikova, Mikhail Zalomin, Vitaly Ivanchuk and Irina Karavaeva.
Also registered appeals of the Russian Biathlon Union, federations of rowing and rugby.
Recall that the Minister of Sports and Tourism of Poland Kamil Bortnichuk called to deprive Russia of membership in the International Olympic Committee and all international sports federations due to the unleashed full-scale war against Ukraine.
