UEFA President Aleksandr Ceferin assessed the likelihood of a reduction in the number of hosts of the final tournament of Euro 2020, which was postponed to summer 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to him, it is possible that the organizers will have to refuse to hold matches in 12 different countries..

At the same time, the functionary expressed confidence that the tournament will take place next year, despite the new wave of COVID-19 incidence..

" The tournament is planned to be exactly as it was conceived. But I must say that instead of twelve countries, we can hold it in eleven, eight, five or one country "

Earlier, The Sun reported that the first cities that may be deprived of the right to host matches of the continental championship are St. Petersburg and Baku..

The final tournament of Euro 2020 will be held June 11 - July 11, 2021.



Matches must be hosted by 12 host cities: St. Petersburg, London, Munich, Baku, Rome, Bucharest, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Bilbao, Glasgow, Budapest and Dublin.

The Ukrainian national team, which went directly to the European Championship, will play in the group stage with the Netherlands, Austria, as well as the winner of the decisive play-off match of Path D Georgia - North Macedonia, which will be held on November 12, 2020.
