On the night of Sunday, May 13, in New York on the legendary 20-thousand boxing arena "Madison Square Garden" was the battle for the title of world champion WBA lightweight title. In the ring came the Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko and the leader of the lightweight category Jorge Linares from Venezuela.

Boxers have a very hard equal fight. At the beginning of the fight, the advantage was possessed by the Ukrainian, then the Venezuelan intercepted the initiative and even sent Lomachenko a knockdown.

In the decisive 10th round, the exchange of heavy blows led to a knockout from Lomachenko.

Thus, the Ukrainian set a world record, spending the least number of battles to win the world title according to the version of the World Boxing Association in lightweight (up to 61.2 kg).

Note that 30-year-old Vasily Lomachenko is the first boxer ever to become a champion in three different weight categories in just 12 fights (he previously won in the first and second featherweight divisions).
