15-year-old Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk commented on her decision not to participate in tournaments that are held in Russia.
In addition, Kostyuk also noted that earlier she was offered to change her citizenship.
"For me, much means patriotism. It's an honor to represent your country in competitions. I love when our hymn sounds, always tears come to my eyes. I love Ukraine very much. I try wherever I can speak in Ukrainian. At one time I was on the Maidan, even spent the night, there was very cool.
I admire the heroism of our soldiers, volunteers, people who give their lives for our Motherland. This gives me strength and confidence on the tennis court. I have someone to equal, take an example and defend Ukraine on the tennis front. Yes, there was an offer to go to Moscow and St. Petersburg, but I refused.
And while in the East there will be hostilities I consider it inappropriate to take part in competitions held in Russia ".
"I had an offer to change citizenship two years ago, I refused at once. Especially it's too late to change citizenship, because I spoke for the national team at the Federation Cup. And when you at least once went to the court for the national team, then it is very difficult to change your citizenship, a complicated procedure, "said Marta Kostiuk.
Recall that recently Kostyuk made her debut for the national team of Ukraine at the Fed Cup.
