Scientists from the University of Brigham Young in the United States have established a connection between running and improving memory.

Experts argue that running exercises reduce the negative impact of chronic stress on the hippocampus - part of the brain responsible for memory.

Memorization of information proceeds optimally in the case of increased synaptic transmission between two neurons. This process is called long-term poten- tial. However, chronic or prolonged stress weakens the synaptic transmission, which has a negative effect on memory.

To establish the connection between running and improving memory, scientists conducted an experiment in mice, which were created stress conditions.

The study found that the experimental rodents that ran in the wheel, the indicator of long-term potentiation was significantly higher than in those mice that were at rest throughout the experiment. In addition, the rodents running in the wheel made fewer mistakes in the exercises for memory of passing the maze.

According to the authors of scientific work, the results of their research prove that you can improve memory thanks to simple running exercises.
