The village opened eight days before the opening of the Winter Olympic Games. It will host the participants of the Games-2018. In the same buildings will accommodate disabled athletes who will become participants of the Paralympic Games.

As the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine informs, the complexes of the Olympic villages are located directly in Pyeongchang, which heads the so-called "mountain cluster" of the Winter Games, and in the town of Gangneung, where the Olympic facilities of the "coastal cluster".

The village in Pyeongchang consists of eight residential 15-storey buildings with a total capacity of 3,894 person places, and will be used both for the accommodation of athletes at the Olympic Games and for the Paralympic Games. In Gangneung, the village is built exclusively for the Olympics: nine buildings of 22-25 floors hold 2,717 people. Traditionally, all the buildings that will serve as a real home for participants from more than 90 countries within 16 days after the Games will receive new owners - the local population, already purchased these apartments.

The solemn ceremony of the opening of the village was attended by the head of the national team of Ukraine for the XXIII Winter Olympic Games Anna Sorokina, who is looking forward to our first sportsmen - representatives of sledge sport and biathlon, who will arrive tomorrow, on February 2.

Let's remind that 33 sportsmen will represent Ukraine at the Winter Olympic Games-2018.

As reported URA-Inform, the Minister of Youth and Sports Igor Zhdanov states that the preparation and participation of Ukrainian athletes in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Phenchkhan in 2014-2018 allocated 265.5 million hryvnia.
