According to the latest weather forecast, partly cloudy weather will remain in Ukraine all day, January 15. In the west and north it will be cloudy without clearing. And the air temperature will lead to ice on the roads.

As noted by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, light snow is expected in the western and northern regions during the day, with rain in places during the day. There will be no precipitation in the rest of the territory.

“The roads in the western, northern and Vinnytsia regions are icy in places,” weather forecasters separately warned.

The wind on this day will be moderate - southwest, it will not exceed 5-10 m/s.

Temperature at night 1-6° below zero, during the day from 2° below zero to 3° warm. A little warmer in the Odessa region and Crimea - up to 5°C. And vice versa, in the Carpathians at night 9-14° below zero, during the day 1-6° below zero.

In the Kiev region and Kyiv it will also be cloudy, and the roads will be icy in places. Light snow and rain are expected in some parts of the region this afternoon..

The temperature in the capital at night is 1-3° below zero, and during the day – about 0°.

Forecasters also explained why the sky turns red in winter.. The fact is that the air is usually colder and cleaner due to lower moisture content.

“This makes red hues brighter because dust and water vapor have less of an effect on scattering,” say experts.

Microscopic ice crystals can form in the atmosphere when it's cold. They refract and scatter sunlight in such a way that they enhance red and orange hues..

Typically, additional conditions for intensifying red color are observed during sunset.

“Thus, in winter, the red sky at sunset appears brighter due to a combination of cleaner atmosphere, ice crystals and the physical properties of light,” forecasters say.
