Electric vehicles are gradually gaining an increasing share in the markets of developed countries. They are unlikely to be able to get ahead of cars with a gasoline engine in the coming years, but they have already caught up and surpassed diesel cars - at least in the European market. Such data are given in the report of the research company JATO Dynamic.
The historic moment happened in September 2020. 1.3 million vehicles sold in 27 European countries this month. About 47% of them are gasoline powered cars. The share of electric vehicles and diesel cars is about 25% each, but with an accurate calculation, the first still took the lead: 328 thousand against 323 thousand, respectively.
