The State Forestry Agency of Ukraine started selling New Year trees, paying attention to their legality.

This was reported by the press service of the State Forest Agency.

According to the agency, in the Zhytomyr region, a running meter of a New Year’s tree costs starting from 55 UAH, depending on the species of the Christmas tree. In Volyn there are also inexpensive Christmas trees. Here the average price is 60 UAH per linear meter.

At the same time, in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, trees are sold at 90-120 UAH per linear meter.

" In the Kiev region, the average price is 100-120 UAH per linear meter, in Odessa - 75 UAH, in Zaporozhye - 88 UAH per linear meter, in Lviv - 80 UAH, ”the agency said, adding that they have already sold 38 thousand to date.

It is indicated that while this is being implemented mainly for wholesalers, closer to the New Year holidays, Christmas markets in cities, towns, villages will already be organized..

“That is, we not only sell to wholesalers, but also to people who come to the leshoz and buy Christmas trees,” the press service said..

At the same time, the State Forest Agency assured that all the Christmas trees that they sell are legal and have a plastic screed or a self-adhesive label on them, on which an individual number is listed in the electronic registry, and each person can check the legality of the origin of this Christmas tree.

In total this year, the State Forestry Agency of Ukraine plans to sell about 500 thousand Christmas trees.

At the same time, the State Forest Agency calls on residents of Ukraine to be conscious and to acquire only legally cut down spruces, since fines are imposed for willfully cut down trees.

Experts said that the amount of sanctions depends not only on the number of spruces, but also on the place of felling.

In particular, the penalty is calculated after the establishment of such facts:.

where the tree grew (in a forest, in a village or on the territory of nature reserves);

what was the diameter of the trunk in the cortex near the neck of the root;

tree age.

For example, for the illegal felling of spruce, under 41 years old, with a diameter of up to 10 cm, you will have to pay 498 UAH 47. If the trunk diameter was more than 10 cm and less than 14 - 878 UAH 25 kopecks, from 14 to 18 cm - 2 254 UAH 97 kopecks.

In addition, according to article 65 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, the violator will have to pay an additional fine for the illegal cutting of conifers. Its size is 30-60 non-taxable minimums. The size of the sanction increases if officials sawed trees.
