The Italian government imposes fines with the possible confiscation of a car for those car owners who, being in the country for more than 60 days, drive a car in a foreign registration.

Relevant innovations are contained in the recently adopted law on security, reports Economic Truth referring to the Italian agency ANSA.

In this way, the government is trying to put an end to tax evasion by Italians who drive foreign-registered cars.. The law will also apply to foreigners who live and work in Italy.

Innovations announced the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Danilo Toninelli at a press conference. "We have included in the law on security a provision that prohibits those who live in Italy for more than 60 days from driving vehicles with foreign license plates," the minister said.

According to him, now those who will try to circumvent the payment of taxes are subject to serious fines, and if they do not comply and re-register the car - and the confiscation.

Violators will have to pay a fine of 712 euros. Within 180 days the car owner will be forced to re-register the car, during this period the car will remain in stock. If the car is not re-registered for this term, it will be confiscated..

"I am very proud of this measure, which is designed to stop the common practice, which causes damage to all of us, takes away money and harms even those Italian companies that are working properly," the minister said.

Recall that in Ukraine, too, are trying to deal with cars with foreign registration. On the eve of the Verkhovna Rada has voted in general for the bill, which reduces the excise tax on customs clearance of cars and sets terms for preferential customs clearance of cars.
