Representatives of the Australian Bureau of Statistics conducted a study in which they found out that alcohol consumption in the Green Continent has reached a record low in the past half century.

Most of all, Australians love beer, which is consumed by 39.2 percent of the population, and wine (38.3 percent), according to The Drinks Business.

In fiscal year 2016-2017, total consumption of pure alcohol in Australia was 186 million liters. For every resident of the country older than 15 years and older, an average of 9.4 liters. This indicator was the lowest since the early 1960s.

Representatives of the statistical office considered that in the year 2017, each Australian drinker over the age of 15 consumed an average of 84 liters of beer, 28.5 liters of wine, 6.4 liters of cider, 2.8 liters of strong alcohol and 33 banks with a capacity of 375 milliliters of alcoholic cocktails.

The number of non-drinkers in Australia is about 20 percent. The peak of alcohol consumption in Australia fell on the mid-1970s. Then the "alcoholic" indicator per capita exceeded the current more than two times.
