The military price of his own health in the summer of 2014 saved a whole column of soldiers near Lugansk. For the fourth year in a row he has been chained to a bed, and almost a year and a half medical rehabilitation specialists are trying to restore his full life, the TSN.
At the beginning of the ATO, the sorties of his reconnaissance group horrified the collaborators and Russian mercenaries in the Luhansk region. On July 20, 2014, the detachment gave battle to the militants, and at the same time the opportunity for the whole column of Ukrainian soldiers to pass through without losses.
"I asked him such a question: Sasha, do you understand that we can die right now?" And Sasha told me such words that were remembered for life: better one machine than the whole column, "recalls his combat sister.
In this battle, Petrakovsky was wounded in the head, subsequently because of the error of Kharkiv doctors, the soldier fell into a coma. The hero was treated in Lviv, Poland, Israel and the United States, but everything is useless. The clinic near Kiev alone undertook to put the fighter on his feet.
Now he, like a child, again learns to walk - step by step with the help of special devices. With Alexander, a physical therapist works, and the titanic efforts of rehabilitators did give the result - almost a year there was no progress at all, and the last three months, as it broke out, are recognized by doctors.
According to them, the patient began to do things that had not been talked about before - sitting on his own, trying to stand on his own feet, eat himself.
This makes it possible for doctors to talk more confidently about Sasha's rehabilitation, but this must be at least two more years. In the recovery of his son, his father, the cadre officer Peter Petrakovsky.
"He in the 8th grade was pulling up 30 times, you know," he recalled..
However, for the progress the hero needs funds. A month of intensive work of rehabilitation specialists costs 300 thousand hryvnia. Now it is paid by a private philanthropist. The war made more than 700 fighters like Sasha, and they all wait for their chance.
