In Revda, in honor of Major of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Andrei Kozyrin, who received multiple injuries in the North Caucasus and died in a Moscow hospital, they installed a memorial plaque. This was reported by the press secretary of the regional police chief Valeriy Gorelykh.
According to him, the personnel and veterans of the district department in which he served, as well as the mother of the deceased officer Larissa Krapivin, the representative of the Public Council Vladimir Beloglazov, the chairman of the local council Andrei Mokretsov, the deputy head of the district administration Evgenia Voit and the head of the committee of soldiers mothers Galina Rzhavitina.
The memorial plaque is installed on the building along Karl Liebknecht Street, 2, where formerly the school No. 6 was located, in which the hero studied.
On January 8, 2001, Major Kozyrin, on a business trip on the territory of the city of Grozny, Chechnya, together with his two comrades, covered the engineering and demining unit of the military commandant's office that conducted the demining of the streets of Grozny. Andrei Yurievich walked ahead of the group in order to identify the disguised mines and stretch marks and suddenly saw a land mine, immediately signaled to colleagues "All Back", and he did not manage to hide himself. At that moment, there was a radio-controlled blasting of the projectile. At the same time, sappers were bombarded by militants. As a result, Major Kozyrin suffered serious injuries, both legs were amputated to him. Doctors for a month struggled for his life, but, unfortunately, they failed to succeed in this matter. On February 9, at the age of 31 in the Moscow hospital, he died.
"We will always remember our comrade-in-arms, educate on his example a young generation of law enforcement officers," said Lieutenant Colonel Stanislav Galkin, head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "Revdinsky".
"My practical friend every day with his sapper group went to dangerous tasks, from which he could not return. For the entire time he was in the TFR, he defused hundreds of explosive devices, which saved many lives. Once, with the detachment, the leadership set the task of demining an important strategic facility in which the uranium rods were previously brought by militants. Realizing the degree of risk, Andrew fulfilled the task assigned to him, but at the same time received a high dose of radiation. And on December 19, 2000, two weeks before the fatal wound, Kozyrin and his colleagues stopped the truck "Ural" stuffed with three tons of various explosives. At the wheel of the car was a suicide bomber. She planned to ram the gates of the district militia department and blow up the vehicle. Andrew was able to defuse the fuse mechanism, when the timer was literally seconds. Thanks to his professionalism, he managed to save about 500 people, including my life, "said co-worker Yuri Kuksin.
As Colonel Gorelykh said, the decree of the Russian President for the courage and heroism shown in the performance of his duty, Major of Police Kozyrin Andrey Yurievich was awarded the Order of Courage (posthumously).
By the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia of April 26, 2005, he was forever enrolled in the lists of the personnel of the internal affairs bodies of the Sverdlovsk region.
The initiative to establish a memorial plaque belongs to the Council of Veterans and the Committee of Soldiers' Mothers.
"We have achieved this for three whole years and now - the mayoralty has given good. With funding and production of the tablet helped the regional Fund for Supporting Veterans of Law Enforcement ", - said the Chairman of the Council Rafik Mukhamatullin.
