It is noteworthy that the Norwegians began the transition to digital radio in January this year. And already since December 15, the most northern regions of the country and the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic were the last to be switched to digital audio broadcasting (DAB).

Supporters of digital audio broadcasting say that it offers better sound quality and more channels, but it costs one-eighth of the cost of FM stations.

The Norwegian government also notes that DAB offers a wider coverage, allows listeners to follow programs that they have missed, and facilitates the broadcast of emergency messages during a crisis.

However, according to polls, many Norwegian citizens are unhappy with the rejection of FM broadcasting. Many fear that they will be denied access to emergency signals, which they broadcast on FM radio stations.

Others complain about the need to buy an expensive adapter to receive digital radio in the car, since only 20% of cars are equipped with DAB receivers.

As previously reported in URA-Inform, the proportion of Ukrainian-language songs and radio should be 30 percent. At the same time, as before the quota was 25 percent. On Wednesday in Ukraine begins the next stage of the introduction of the bill on quotas of Ukrainian-language songs and broadcasts on the radio - come into force the norm.
