Sverdlovsk region is included in the 10 most criminal regions of Russia. The General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation published data on criminal activities in the regions of the country for the first half of the year. The document was posted on the website of the department.

So, in the first place in the number of crimes was Moscow (71 961), despite the fact that it is not even a separate region or autonomous region. Sverdlovsk region took 8th place. In the first 6 months of 2017, in the Middle Urals, 28,556 crimes. At the moment, almost 17 thousand crimes have already been solved. The department traced the dynamics of crime reduction in the region by 16%. During the same period in 2016, 34 284 violations of the law were registered in the region, and at that time the Sverdlovsk Region was the 5th among all regions of the country, including Moscow. Reduction of the number of registered crimes is noted in all federal districts and in the territory of 76 Russian regions. The growth of crime was recorded only in eight regions.

The greatest decrease in the crime rate was registered in the Vologda region - 30.1%.

Also in the top ten most criminal regions are Rostov, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk and Kemerovo regions, as well as the Republic of Tatarstan and the Krasnodar Territory.

According to the ministry, in just six months, the country recorded just over one million (1,030,193) crimes. Every third crime (34.1%) is committed in a state of intoxication. More than a third of all registered crimes (39.9%) constitute theft of others' property.
