As the press service of the company reports, at the moment the plant is de-energized due to the hurricane, as a result of which the cooling plants were switched off. In addition, access to the chemical store is limited by the fact that the territory of the plant is flooded.

At the same time, the management of Arkema has assured that it is doing its utmost to comply with the conditions of storage of products and chemicals, however the probability of an explosion at the plant is estimated as real.

In connection with the current situation, 300 people have already been evacuated from the enterprise. Now the issue of evacuating residents within a radius of 2.5 kilometers from the chemical plant is being decided, the company explained.

Recall, US President Donald Trump called the hurricane "Harvey" the largest natural disaster in US history.

As reported URA-Inform, as of Thursday morning, August 31, as a result of the hurricane "Harvey", which rages in the United States of America, killed at least 38 people.
