In the near future, the media will cease to exist, and their niche will be completely occupied by bloggers and journalists working for themselves who will no longer need intermediaries in the form of publications and TV channels to convey information and opinions to readers and viewers.

This view was expressed by the famous Russian blogger Ilya Varlamov in his blog in LJ.

The blogger said that Russian opposition politician Aleksei Navalny refused to give an interview to the radio Ekho Moskvy, and Varlamov was amused by the indignation of journalists about this:

after all, Navalny has his own very popular channel on Youtube, where his appearances are watched by millions of spectators.

The blogger stressed that in recent years the situation with the media has changed rapidly. First, the production of content has become very cheaper, and now anyone can shoot high-quality video, including using drones. Secondly, people more actively consume this content on the Internet, as new technologies have made access faster and easier.
