The mayor of a remote mountain village in Italy offers 2 thousand. Euros to those who move there to live.
To get money, you will either need to rent a house in Bormidi, or purchase real estate, reports The Guardian.
Thanks to this initiative, Daniele Galiano hopes to revive the village, which is home to 394 people. Young people are leaving to find work in the nearest big city of Savony.
The village of Bormid is located at an altitude of 420 meters above sea level, in the northwestern region of Liguria. Rental housing here costs from 50 euros per month.
It is noted that the mechanism for payment for relocation is still under development, the initiative is to approve the local council.
Its advantages are called local cordiality, as well as forests, goats, a lot of good food and life without stress.
"We are high in the mountains, but not far from the sea - and this is a healthy lifestyle, very clean air," said a member of the local council who asked not to be named. On the initiative Mayor Galiano told in Facebook. Potential new residents reacted to the post quite actively. Some of them say that they would not refuse cash as a gift in exchange for working in the city.
In January, the Italian Ministry of Culture called the 2017 "year of the village", seeking to develop tourism in places that risk becoming deserted.
