Ukrainian singer and songwriter JAMALA presents a new studio album “Rukh miy” - a deeply personal, emotional and honest work, which became a continuation of her musical universe after the albums “Podikh”, “Krila” and “Poklik”.

“My Movement” is not just a name, but a concept. It sounds like the formula of life, like an element that exists inside a person - like magnesium or sodium, which maintain balance. It's about inner movement, without which there is no life.

" There's an idea here - it's like an element like magnesium or sodium: magnesium, which improves mood, or sodium, which moisturizes. Without movement there is no life. Life does not stand still – it moves, just like us,” says Jamala.

Three sound producers worked on the album: The Maneken (Evgeny Filatov), Aniel Arin and Lucas Bird. Together with Jamala, they created a sound that breathes modernity: indie pop and art pop intertwined with electro soul, R&B and synth-pop. The album consists of 10 stories and 1 bonus track, which were born at different periods of the artist’s life - from demos created more than 5 years ago to new compositions reflecting her current state. Some songs have been waiting in the wings since the pandemic, others appeared as an instant reaction to the emotions experienced.

“I think it’s impossible to release an album without experiencing pain or joy. My songs are often ahead of their time - like 'The Way Home', which took 10 years to become a hit. I write knowing exactly what they are about.. These are my experienced thoughts,” the singer shares..

" Tenderness and love are combined here with a new, sharper intonation of Jamala.

" Apparently because I can afford to tell the truth. This is absolute reflection in 'Shut Up', 'We Are Hiding', and absolute frankness in 'Flirting' and 'Solar System', says the artist.

“Flirt” – a story that began 10 years ago One of the central tracks of the album – “Flirt” – has a special history. This is a song that was born as a demo 10 years ago - on the day Jamala met her future husband Bekir.

" I came home and made a sketch. This is a very personal moment that has stayed with me all these years,” recalls Jamala.

This is a composition about the first impulse of feelings - subtle, honest, defenseless. It sounds like a recording of a moment that later grew into a real love story..

" This is a metaphorical song where love is revealed through images of space.

" Because only your strength gives faith and hope. Because you are my eternity,” the artist sings.

This is a story about balance, attraction and difference that create a unified system - both in the Universe and in relationships. And this is the first album where so many songs are dedicated to Jamala’s husband, Bekir.

“For me, the relationship between two people is a mystery no less complex and still unexplored than space. It’s as if people have been studying feelings, planets, and the sun for centuries - but there still remains something that is beyond the control of the human mind. So yes, it's a whole system..

solar system. With orbits that alternately converge and diverge. With an attraction that cannot be explained by formulas. With light and shadow, with heat and cold.

This web of connections is fragile and strong at the same time.. You can’t live without burns, but you can’t live without support either.. And somewhere in this endless inner galaxy there is a moment when you are against everyone - but you definitely choose each other,” says Jamala.

It sounds like sunny electropop: with a nu-disco pulse. This is music about a connection that cannot be fully understood - but can be felt.

WATCH the mood video “Solar System” on YouTube: For Jamala, an album is not just a collection of tracks, but a form of deep communication with the listener.

" The album is like a heart-to-heart conversation: you came - I told you about myself, you about yourself.

It's a slice of time that's captured in songs,"

“Rukh miy” is Jamala’s musical “open Wikipedia”: stories, doubts, memories and feelings that are not hidden behind images, but sound directly and honestly.

This album is about movement as the only constant in life. About love that changes. About loneliness that transforms. And about the truth that you can only allow yourself to tell when you are really ready to live it.
