Actress Olga Sumskaya said that she regrets one of the interviews she gave to Ekaterina Osadchaya, and called it a turning point in their relationship. According to the actress, after the release of the program she experienced severe stress and did not sleep for several days.
The People's Artist of Ukraine spoke about this in an interview with the " Sumskaya explained that during the conversation she said things that she did not plan to voice publicly, and subsequently her words were presented in a different context.
“I’m very sorry, because I had specific communication with Ekaterina Osadchaya. In some strange way, you begin to say completely unnecessary frank things, which you then terribly regret.. And I just had this interview when I said something that I shouldn't have said.. And it was distorted,” noted the actress.
According to Sumskaya, after the program was released, a separate phrase was taken out of context and emphasis was placed on it. The actress admitted that the situation was a serious psychological blow for her..
" I regret this terribly. I didn't sleep for several days, I was under terrible stress. I was in a terrible state because it’s nerves, because you realized what you did,” said Sumskaya.
She added that she approached the producers of the program with a request to remove the fragment that caused a resonance, but she was refused.
" This is my personal request and my right, by the way. They didn't meet me because it was hot news. And then they told me: “No, we won’t cut it, because we’ll play a sequel on this”. It was terrible,” the artist shared.
Answering the question whether she was offended by Ekaterina Osadchaya and “World Life” in general, Sumskaya noted that she saw no point in being offended. At the same time, she admitted that a residue remained. According to her, it was after this incident that she promised herself not to give interviews to Osadchaya again..
“I then swore off giving any interview to Ekaterina at all.. Although we had meetings later, there is no longer that warmth, those relationships that existed, say, before this interview. And there will never be any after this,” Sumskaya emphasized.
The artist did not note which interview she was talking about, but noted that it happened 10 years ago. However, Lux FM suggested that her statement regarding her eldest daughter Antonina Papernaya and the issue of citizenship could have caused a resonance.
Then the actress publicly commented on Antonina’s career in Russia and explained that working in Moscow with a Ukrainian passport poses difficulties. In the program, this was presented as the daughter’s readiness to change her citizenship to Russian for the sake of professional fulfillment. Sumskaya herself subsequently emphasized that her words were distorted, and that they were talking about working circumstances and legal nuances, and not about a political position.
