Lvov mayor Andrey Sadovy told where People's Artist of Ukraine Stepan Giga lived several years before his death. Mostly his residence was territorially limited to the west of Ukraine.

The mayor of the city shared in “ZhVL” little-known facts about the last years of the artist’s life, his connection with the city and family sympathies for the singer’s work. According to him, the artist deliberately moved closer to Lviv and considered himself a Lviv resident. According to Andrey Sadovoy, in the last years of his life Stepan Giga lived not in Lviv, but in Konopnitsa, a settlement in the Lviv region, located about 15 kilometers from the city.

The journey by car takes about 30 minutes. According to the mayor, it was the singer’s family who purchased the housing there.

" In fact, in recent years. The family bought a house in Konopnitsa. And he felt like a Lviv resident. That is, Lvov has already become home to him. And he loved it. I myself was amazed,” said Sadovyi.

The singer was born in the village of Bilki in Transcarpathia, but at the end of his life, according to the mayor, he felt connected specifically with Lvov. In particular, the mayor emphasized that it was fundamentally important for Giga to be buried in Lviv. According to him, this was considered a kind of testament of the artist.

Previously, Stepan Giga lived for a long time in Ivano-Frankivsk. It was there that the footage was filmed during the reality show “Changing a Woman,” which showed a spacious house with a large hall, round staircases, a chandelier, a swimming pool and a jacuzzi. However, this house was not his private property..

In particular, Sadovy also shared that in his family Stepan Giga was treated with special sympathy.

“So you understand, my mother-in-law is simply in love with him,” he said, emphasizing that he personally did not have a close relationship with the singer and communicated with him with respect, as with a famous artist.

On December 12, it became known about the death of People's Artist of Ukraine Stepan Giga. The singer died at the age of 66. Before this, on November 19, it was reported that he was hospitalized and underwent emergency surgery.. His condition was then assessed as serious but stable, without disclosing the diagnosis.

On December 14-15, a farewell ceremony for the People’s Artist took place in Lviv. He was buried at the Lychakiv cemetery, where he bequeathed.
