The godfather of musician Sergei Zhadan, writer Andrei Kokotyukha, explained why not a single Ukrainian author has yet received the Nobel Prize in Literature. According to him, the main problem is that our state does not create a sufficient number of programs to promote the works of domestic cultural figures on international platforms. In particular, as Kokotyukha noted, very few works of Ukrainian writers are translated into foreign languages, which also affects this situation. He spoke about this in the project “With Our Own Essentially”.

As Andrey Kokotyukha noted, of course, publishing houses can present the works of domestic writers at major international fairs or festivals, but this will not be enough without state support. According to him, to promote Ukrainian authors you don’t even need to spend huge sums of money, you just need to show your importance.

" From the mid-19th century they began to promote themselves not only financially. Show that they are the best. They are present everywhere, like cockroaches,” said Zhadan’s godfather.

In addition, Andrei Kokotyukha believes that our state should have responded much more strongly to the participation of authors from the Russian Federation at various events. According to him, two years ago Russians were expelled from all cultural venues, but now they are gradually returning, and foreigners are protesting against this.

" They stand with placards near Russian stands and write “Get Out”. Where are the official statements from Ukraine At least the Ministry of Culture, the Security Service of Ukraine or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Where are the official protest notes that say: “Dear organizers, we demand that places not be provided to Russians?”. You don't need any money for this. And the same with the promotion of translations. There must be government programs,” the author said.
