Singer Ivan Dorn, who is on tour in Russia, said that he is a Ukrainian artist even though he has no Ukrainian roots..

He told about this in an interview with Russian journalist Ekaterina Gordeeva.. The performer also noted that he does not consider himself to be a politician.. In his opinion, this is why he manages to maintain a good attitude towards himself both in Ukraine and in Russia during the war..

" It's not a blood question. And not even DNA. Well, that is, not some genetic stories. And ethnics, which you are saturated with, the culture, which you are saturated with. Mentality, you get all this here and become Ukrainian. Music is more than politics, art is more than politics. It has no boundaries, respectively, "

Dorn added that if you look for anything political in him, then his task is to expand Ukrainian culture abroad..

" This is my position. And my country should know that those who have some kind of complaints against me, that I am primarily a Ukrainian artist abroad.. And I'm talking about it. And it does not seem to me that the spread of Ukrainian culture, which I am saturated and saturated with and which I carry, like it or not, causes aggression from other countries towards my country.. I don’t think that through my performances abroad it kind of causes aggression towards my country, "

However, Ivan admitted that he does not consider the Ukrainian language to be his mother tongue.. The singer noted that he wants to write more compositions in Ukrainian, but so far he has not succeeded due to the language barrier..

The artist explained this by the fact that he began to study the state language only in grade 5, although he grew up in the Kiev region.

" I had a Russian-speaking school. I had Russian literature, Russian language. Now this is impossible to imagine in our country.. This has been gone for a long time. But then it was so and simple, because I grew up in such a well, such a Russian-speaking shell, it turned out that this is not my native language, although I grew up in Ukraine. It used to be very difficult to hear Ukrainian on the street. Now it has become everywhere, "
