Previously, there was an unwritten rule in Ukrainian cinema and theater: if you are a talented actor or director, everyone will forgive you. Even violence. But that time has passed.

What happened?

Imagine that you are a " They applaud you, give you awards, call you the best. But behind closed doors, you might be beating your girlfriend up and controlling her every move.. This is exactly the story that photographer Anastasia Solovyova publicly told about actor Konstantin Temlyak. Lawyers who represent the interests of the victim have joined the case.. While the police were collecting evidence, even more terrible facts emerged: other women and maybe even a minor girl could have suffered from the actor’s actions..

This case turned out to be much more than the drama of one person. It became a “backbone” test for the entire Ukrainian culture.

Scandal at “Golden Dzizi” and 35 days of silence.

While the investigation was ongoing, a strange thing happened. In September 2025, Temlyak was awarded the “Golden Jigu” - the country’s main film award.. 35 days passed from Anastasia’s public recognition to the ceremony. More than a month! This would be enough time to gather the board and say: “We do not reward violence.”. In Hollywood, after the accusations, Weinstein was expelled within a week, and Kevin Spacey was taken off the air within a matter of days..

Because this is how the institution of reputation should work, because the Film Academy is a public organization, and not a state body, to act exclusively “within the framework and manner”. She shouldn't wait for permission from written rules. She does everything that is not prohibited and acts according to the rules of ethics. If there is no instrument in the regulations, then they simply take it and create it. The situation is this: you either have valuables or only pieces of paper.

How the system began to change?

The discussion went public and became the subject of professional conversation within the industry about changing the rules - Oscars should not be given to those whose behavior ruins the lives of others.

This was discussed where the entire industry heard (among those who publicly worked on the topic were the victims’ lawyers):.
