13 prospective writers awarded the European Union Literature Prize

This year, 13 writers from different European countries, including 8 representatives of EU countries, received the EU Prize for Literature. This award is awarded annually to European authors whose works reflect contemporary trends in literature and public life, but have not yet gained wide popularity in Europe (no more than 3 foreign languages \u200b\u200bhave been translated), writes Europuls.

Belgian writer Natalie Skovronek was highly praised by the jury for La Carte des regrets, a novel dedicated to the change of eras and the eternal problems of human relations.

The Estonian writer Made Luga, known under the pseudonym Moodlum, won the hearts of readers, and then the jury, the adventure novel “Polish Boys” (Poola poisid). German author Matthias Navart awarded for the philosophical survival story of “The sad guest” (Der traurige Gast).

Luxembourg writer Francis Kirps won the award for the absurd short novel “Mutations” (Die Mutationen), the creation of which the author was clearly inspired by the “Transformation” Kafka. Finally, the Spanish writer Irene Zola was awarded the prize for the book “When I sing, the mountains dance” (Canto jo i la muntanya balla) - a story about the relationship of a man and a woman, into which Catalan legends interweaved.



Lana Bastasic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Shpetim Selmani (Kosovo), Stefan Boskovich (Montenegro), Petar Andonowski (Northern Macedonia) and Maria Navarro Sarenger (Norway) also received the award..

EU literary prize winners receive a cash prize of 5 thousand euros and the opportunity to publish their work in other European languages.

The EU Prize for Literature has been awarded annually since 2009, since then 122 European writers have become its laureates, 14 of them last year. Writers from 41 countries that are part of the EU Creative Europe Culture and Creative Industries Support Program can apply for the award..
