From 11 to 13 May, sociologists VTsIOM conducted a survey, they called almost 2 thousand people over 18 years old, clarifying the names of the most popular writers in the country. Alexander Pushkin was named by 42% of Russians and 38% of Russian-speaking foreigners (except for citizens of countries formerly part of the USSR).
Next comes the Russian classic Leo Tolstoy, who was named 27% of Russians and 35% of Russian-speaking foreigners. 20% and 18% respectively named the name of Mikhail Lermontov.
Fedor Dostoevsky was named 16% and 22%. 15% of Russians named the poet Sergei Yesenin, and 19% of foreign survey participants named the writer Anton Chekhov.
From 3 to 6 June in Moscow on the main square of the country is the book festival "Red Square", timed to birthday A. Pushkin (June 6) and the Day of the Russian Language. Pushkin was not only the greatest Russian poet, prose writer and playwright. It is Pushkin considered the ancestor of the modern Russian literary language.
